The US Postal Service is the model of efficiency, I shipped a package on the 7th of May, and apparently it likes the Chicago area, because it is on its third visit there….
In roughly the same time it takes Federal Express to move roughly 1 Million iPads from China, the USPS can’t move 1 freaking GPS unit from Virginia Beach Virginia to Olathe Kansas…

i think it is the elk grove village facility in freaking illinois its like a black hole of horror. And when i called to ask for my package the orlando office told me that it is possible that someone is readig my package address wrong and just keeps putting it in the wrong bin.

It appears to going in a circle in elk grove. After calling USPS customer service several times i got two different explanations. one person said the sender must have got the address wrong so it keeps looping back to elk grove because they can’t locate the address. the other person said there appears to be no problem as it has not even arrived at a POST OFFICE, just intermediate processing facilities. either way this proves once again how incredibly unreliable USPS is. also, they claim to not even know the destination zip code and say the only person who can correct the address is the sender..

It´s amazing how a few years back you could have sent money in a regular mail and now the priority mail is getting lost in the post office!!!
The customer service is as useless as they could ever be, their job description is to ask for all the addresses that are already on the envelope, the tracking number just so she can provide you with yet another number and read the whereabouts of the letter you probably already read on internet yourself…
The customer service representative told me she had sent the emails to all the places and when I asked her if she could call instead she replied she can´t because those places are machine operated and no actual people work there… With a bit of a surprise I offered to do her job for her and give her the numbers to all those Sort Facility places where actual humans work since I have talked to them, she calmly replied that she can´t because those are her rules… So apparently I can and people who supposed to do something about it can´t… I finally asked to talk to the manager, got transfered to a answering machine, yet another place actual people don´t work, I guess… Called back to talk to the manager who finally explained what is going on… next time if you want any information… call straight to the manager and save yourself the aggro….
Apparently, it can take up to a few days or more to find it…

Pretty sure that they are not flying the packages between Elk Grove IL and Chicago IL, and it really doesn’t matter who is carrying it, it matters who’s routing it.
The other point is the silmple fact is that except in extremely rare instances, the USPS has the worst customer service anywhere.

I’ve been waiting for a priority mail package that was supposed to arrive 2-3 business days. I’ve called customer service and all they can tell me is that it’s stuck 2 hours outside of where I live for reasons apparently over their heads. Who do I blame? FedEx? no. When I order from FedEx, my package arrives on time. The Postal Service has failed to deliver my priority mail now for about 2 weeks.

I live in Chicago. It went through the sort facility IN Chicago just to be sent to Elk grove where it hasn’t moved in over a week. I could have walked my ass over to the Chicago facility to get my package if I knew it would take so damn long. Now it’s stuck somewhere in Elk Grove and I can’t get a hold of anyone smart enough to do a damn thing about it.

I can tell you from personal experience the Elk Grove Village and Des Plaines Post Offices are the absolute worst in delivery. They should be two of the facilities to be closed. Employees don’t even speak english very well. Ridiculous.

OMG, I googled the Elk Grove Village sort facility because a package I sent from Lisle, IL ( 20 minutes away from delivery Lockbox) scanned three times at the Chicago hub- # 2 and 3 AFTER I opened an investigation….now it is in Elk Grove Village- two weeks later…..I am not feeling so well now……the package is only ORIGINAL documents pertaining to an immigration case….that HAD to go to the Lockbox……ggggrrrrrr….No telling what would have happened if I had chosen First Class instead of Priority.

I recently read a story about someone in Davis CA who sent a book essentially a couple of miles, and by the time all was said and done including the book going all the way to NYC it eventually made it…

I’m 70 yr former USPS carrier, If I did or got away with half the shit these folks going to the job (no work) get away with back in the day, I would have been shit canned short of a week. obama’s union contributers have a free ticket to F Off an 8 hr shift without being productive. Yep, it’s terrible…
I probably ship 50 packages fedex/ups to 1 USPS, and I don’t believe I have had one package shipped UPS/RedEX lost, I think I had one delayed a day, because of a massive snow storm…
And to think both UPS and FedEX run at a profit, while the is in the hole to the tune of more then $5 Billion

I have been working at FedEx smartpost for almost 2 years now, and I worked at UPS for 2 and a half years before that, and DHL for a year before that. DHL did not last long here in Kansas City as within its first year it had so many missorts and a shit staff they had no choice but to shut it down they were losing so much money. And UPS so far has been the best shipping company I have worked for in terms of service quality. While UPS is union, they still are very strict about packages getting missorted. And people do get fired over missorting packages. However, FedEx smartpost seems to not care at all. Where I work, most of our staff is all hired from FOB from africa or asia and dont speak a lick of english, so they have no clue whats going on. I see mislabled packages daily by the hundreds, and I do my best to catch them before they continue and get them fixed. However, I cant catch em all. But I bet thats what happened. It seems to happen daily at FedEx so I imagine it does at the post office too. Bad lables but no one cares to fix the problem and it just circles the system. We have had packages just circle within our hub for days with no label cuz people are too lazy or dont know what they are doing. If I was the CEO of one of these companies, alot of people would be out of the job over stuff like this. When something is missorted 3 or 4 times, its not a mistake, its the company failing to hire an educated workforce.
